Condemning the alleged gangrape of an elderly nun in Nadia district, the Save Democracy Forum today demanded a speedy probe into the incident and "highest possible punishment" to the culprits.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Forum, former Supreme Court Judge Ashok Ganguly, who is also the chairman of the body, said they would visit the district on March 18.
Holding the state government responsible for the "deteriorating law and order in West Bengal," the former apex court Judge invited people from all spheres of life to protest to save the state "from fascism and anarchy".

In today's meeting, former city Mayor Bikash Bhattarcharya, Congress leader Abdul Mannan, former state Assembly Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim, former Naxalite leader Ashim Chatterjee, also convenor of the forum, were present.
The Forum also mourned the death of Park Street rape victim last week.
