Save the girl child: Dikshit

She said the decreasing number of girls is a cause of concern as it was affecting the balance of nature.

"It is time to intensify save girl child campaign. There is a need for zero tolerance towards female foeticide which will go a long way in ensuring a better future of the country and humanity," she said at a function organized by the Nanhi Chhanv Foundation and Arsha Dharma Parishad here.

"There is no difference between girls and boys in the modern society as girls have proved their mettle and competence in all fields. All of us have to work hard and intensify the 'Save Girl Child' movement as the fututre of the country and humanity depends on it," she said.

 

The function was also attended by T K A Nair, Advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Youth present at the function took a pledge not to accept dowry during their marriage.
