Maharashtra Health Minister Deepak Sawant has directed officials of his department to carry out an integrated survey of anganwadis in the district to know the level of malnutrition among children.
He gave the instructions on Friday during a meeting of the task force that has been formed to tackle malnutrition in Palghar.
"Carry out an integrated survey of anganwadis in Jawhar and Mokhada tehsils in the next two weeks to identify children in SAM (severe acute malnutrition) and MAM (medium acute malnutrition) categories," he told the officials.
"Every effort should be made to improve the condition of the children in SAM and MAM categories," he said.
Sawant added that the government was striving to curb infant and maternal mortality in the district.
