In order to strengthen the Wakf institutions and streamline their functioning, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today reconstituted the Board of Directors of the Wakf Board by nominating nine new members to the organisation.
"The CM, pursuant to the powers vested in him under Section six of the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Specified Wakafs and Specified Wakafs Properties Act, 2004, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors, nominated Imam Dargah Hazratbal Shrine, Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqui and Maulana Showkat Keng as Members of the reconstituted J&K Wakaf Board," an official spokesman said quoting a government order issued by Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
He said the other members nominated to the Board include Advocate Azhar-ul-Amin, former Chief Engineer Ghulam Hassan Shah, former Director General Health Services and ex-Member, National Disaster Management Authority, Dr Muzaffar, Professors of the University of Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Nehvi and Mushtaq Qureshi.
