SBI Foundation commits Rs 10 cr for conservation of CSTM

SBI Foundation has committed Rs 10 crore for the conservation and restoration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) of Mumbai over the period of 3-5 years.

CSTM railway station, formerly known as Victoria Terminus, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Through this project, the CSR arm of State Bank of India aims to contribute in development and preservation of world heritage structures, SBI said in a statement.

The project would involve conservation and restoration of GM building heritage structure south and south facade, conservation and restoration of Old Annexe building facade, south facade side open space restoration of ground level, paving, landscape works & restoration of heritage compound wall, museum etc, it said.
 

Further, restoration work of CSTM heritage building will be done by INTACH an expert agency.

As part of Swachh Bharat Mission under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government aims to make 100 iconic heritages, spiritual and cultural places in the country as model for 'Swachchha Tourist Destinations'.
