SBI ordered to pay over Rs 24,000 with interest

State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Punjab, directed SBI to pay the amount to the complainant along with interest at the rate of 9 per cent per annum from the date of withdrawal of the amounts.

The complainant would also be entitled to Rs 5,000 as cost of litigation, the forum said.

Complainant Sashi Bhusan Gupta, a resident of Hoshiarpur, found that a sum of Rs 32,940 had been unauthorisedly withdrawn from his account through five transactions made through ATM.

He immediately approached the bank and his ATM facility was blocked but after that, Rs 13,028 and Rs 11,028 were unauthorisedly withdrawn through the ATM.

 

He lodged complaint before State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Punjab, which found negligence on the part of the bank.
