The Supreme Court today appointed its retired judge Justice N M Kasliwal as a principal observer to oversee the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections.
In an interim order, a bench of justices A R Dave and Dipak Misra said Justice Kasliwal will be assisted by former Rajasthan High Court judge Justice S P Pathak and asked them to change the date of election if it is required. The scheduled date of election is November 24.
"It is directed by way of an interim order that the former judge of this court, Justice N M Kasliwal, assisted by Justice S P Pathak, shall render their services as principal observer and observer respectively so as to see that the election in question is held properly.

"They shall do the needful to conduct the election. If need be, the date of election may also be changed by the observers," the bench said.
The apex court said "individual members shall not cast their votes and the result of the election shall be subject to the final outcome of the appeal which is pending before this court".
It posted the case for hearing on January 6, 2014.
The court passed the order on a petition filed by former BCCI treasurer and ex-Rajasthan Cricket Association secretary Kishore Rungta seeking the court's direction for appointment of a retired judge to conduct RCA elections.
