The Supreme court today asked CBI officers, who were present in the court room during the hearing CBI Director Ranjit Sinha's plea, to leave the premises and go back to their duty.

The apex court also pulled up Joint Director Ashok Tiwari for defending the Director saying, "You are not agents of the Director and you cannot be his mouthpiece. You do not need to take responsibility. How is your presence required here."

"Why so many CBI officers are here. How come so many officers sitting in the court room. We do not require their presence. We are not hearing 2G investigation case. We are hearing an application filed against the Director," it said.

It asked the officers to leave the courtroom and "do their duty rather than observing court proceedings".

Around ten officers who were present in the courtroom left immediately.
