Pakistan's Supreme Court today ordered installation of CCTV cameras within 48 hours at all courts in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, a day after a suicide attack on a court here left 11 people killed.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, today heard the case related to the terror attack at the court in Islamabad.
Interior Secretary Shahid told the court that cameras and three security scanner gates at the district courts had been out of use for some time.
Chief Justice Jillani expressed anger over the lack of CCTV cameras at the court despite the presence of terror threats in Islamabad.
He ordered the installation of CCTV cameras within 48 hours in all the courts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and called for the compliance report on Monday, GEO news reported.
Unidentified attackers burst into the complex of the local court and opened fire, killing Additional Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ahmad Khan Awan and 10 others. At least 25 people were injured in the attack in F-8 area of the capital where a large number of expatriates stay.
