The Supreme Court has sought response of Bihar Cricket Association on a plea by a rival association, claiming to be its ad-hoc committee, challenging the Patna High Court's order allowing BCA to carry out its financial functions, including operation of its bank account.
A bench comprising justices R M Lodha and Shiva Kirti Singh issued notice to BCA and its affiliated district cricket associations on the ad-hoc committee's plea seeking stay of the July 10 decision of the high court.
The ad-hoc committee, through its convener Abdul Bari Siddique, who is also a senior RJD leader, contended that the high court was not justified in allowing BCA Secretary Ajay Narayan Sharma to operate its bank account as the committee of management for cricket in Bihar was "illegally constituted".
