Delhi BJP today came down hard on AAP questioning why the Arvind Kejriwal-led government did not investigate the alleged diversion by the then Sheila Dikshit dispensation of funds meant for SC/ST welfare projects to finance certain works for the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG).
The BJP attack came a day after AAP "linked" the Delhi government's silence over the "missing" Commonwealth Games files to Dikshit's comments supporting the Lt Governor's move to invite the saffron party to form government in Delhi.
BJP accused Kejriwal of ignoring the matter despite the Home Ministry writing to then Chief Secretary S K Srivastava seeking details of the SC/ST funds on December 30 last, when he was heading Delhi government.

"We want to ask why Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government did not investigate or raise the matter during their 49 days' regime and did not bring to light the letter sent by the Home Ministry seeking details of the alleged diversion of SC/ST welfare funds in the 2010 Commonwealth Games," said Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay.
"Kejriwal's silence on the matter establishes AAP's connivance with Congress with which it had earlier formed government in Delhi," he said.
Upadhyay also demanded explanation from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the "missing" files related to the Commonwealth Games.
"It is the responsibility of the Lt Governor to reply to the Home Ministry... And inform about the file and where this fund was spent in Delhi and whether the Government of Delhi returned the fund to the SC welfare fund after the Games," the Delhi BJP chief said.
Upadhyay said a delegation of BJP would meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this connection and demand that a CBI inquiry into the matter.
BJP MP Udit Raj said Congress and AAP who claim to be the saviours of Dalits have been exposed. He said the diversion of funds meant for SC/ST development was suppressed as Congress was also ruling at the Centre that time.
"Kejriwal has been talking about taking action against corruption by former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit again and again, but remained silent on misappropriation and embezzlement of SC welfare fund during his 49 days' rule," the BJP MP said.
