The Supreme Court today stayed the Allahabad High Court order asking Uttar Pradesh government to give details of criminal cases withdrawn by it during last three years.
A vacation bench of justices A K Sikri and U U Lalit granted interim relief to the Akhilesh Yadav government which had filed an appeal against the High Court order.
The High Court had earlier sought the details of the criminal cases withdrawn by the state government across the state in last three years.

It was alleged that cases lodged against persons of a particular class were being withdrawn by the state government.
Senior advocate Vijay Bahadur Singh, appearing for the UP government, said the state is duly empowered under the court of criminal procedure to withdraw a criminal case.
