With the Supreme Court removing CBI director Ranjit Sinha from 2G case today, the Trinamool Congress today said that the credibility of the CBI had been "busted irreparably".

"If the captain of the organisation is indicted, then the whole organisation gets a bad name. After the court's direction, CBI's credibility is busted irreparably," TMC spokesman and Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien told PTI.

He alleged that "the CBI is used for political vendetta and to settle political scores".

The party said in its website, "The nation's worst kept secret: Using the CBI for political vendetta. So SC verdict means Credibility Busted Irreparably".

The Supreme Court today removed Sinha from the 2G scam case, saying the allegations against him of protecting some accused appears to be "prima facie credible".
