The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) has condoled the demise of former BCCI General Manager Dr MV Sridhar.

Sridhar, who had recently resigned from his position, passed away today at his Hyderabad residence following a massive cardiac arrest.

"Governing body and everyone at SCA are deeply saddened by untimely demise of Dr MV Sridhar," the Association said in a media release.

"His love and affection for cricket was remarkable and unforgettable. Sridharji's sad demise is a great loss not only to Indian cricket, but also to International cricket.

"He will be remembered with the feelings of admiration for his significant and immeasurable contribution to the promotion, prestige, popularity and glory of Indian cricket," the SCA said.

Sridhar (51) was in charge of BCCI's cricket operations till last month for nearly four years.

He was one of the pillars of Hyderabad cricket during the 1990's and was also one of their better captains. With Mohammed Azharuddin busy on national duty for most of the 90's, it was Sridhar and Abdul Azeem, who shouldered the burden of Hyderabad batting during that phase.
