Kerry Washington-starrer "Scandal" may end after its previously announced seventh season.

The show is inspired by the life of fixer Judy Smith, who also serves as a co-executive producer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, creator Shonda Rhimes always saw the series as a seven-season show.

"It was not a "ten-season or eight-season show. ... I've already decided when 'Scandal' is ending," Rhimes had said previously.

ABC, producers ABC Studios and Shondaland have declined to comment.

The show also features Tony Goldwyn, Henry Ian Cusick, Columbus Short, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes and Guillermo Diaz among others.

If it wraps up after season seven, "Scandal" would become Rhimes' second drama to end after six or more seasons, after "Private Practice".
