Scattered rainfall at some places in Punjab, Haryana

Light to moderate rains were witnessed in several parts of Punjab and Haryana today, plummeting the mercury and raising the humidity levels in the region.

The maximum temperature in parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between two degrees Celsius above normal to two degrees Celsius below normal, the Met office said here.

While Karnal was drenched by 21 mm of rainfall, 18.2 mm of rains fell in Ludhiana.

Besides, Ambala received 16.9 mm of rainfall followed by 11.2 mm at Chandigarh, 9 mm at Narnaul and 1.2 mm at Patiala.

Hisar was the hottest in the region with a high of 36 degrees Celsius followed by 35.4 degrees Celsius at Bhiwani and 35 degrees Celsius at Ambala, two notches above normal.
 

Among other places, Chandigarh settled at a high of 34.5 degrees C, two notches above normal followed by 34.3 degrees C at Patiala, one notch above normal and 33.6 degrees C at Ludhiana, two notches below normal.

While Amritsar had a high of 32.4 degrees C, one notch below normal, the maximum temperatures at Karnal and Narnaul was identical at 32 degrees celsius, one and two notches below normal respectively.

The humidity level ranged between 85 to 95 per cent in the region adding to the woes of the people.

The Met officials forecast light to moderate rainfall at a few places in the region during the next 24 hours.
