The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) today announced its decision not to participate in any official functions including Independence Day celebrations till its demands are met.
The demands relate to chamber allotment, designation of seniors, functioning of Supreme Court registry, listing of matters by the registry, treatment of clerks, facilities for senior citizens and women lawyers, among others.
"SCBA resolves that following Mahatma Gandhi's principle of non-cooperation, the members of SCBA will not participate in any official functions including references, Independence Day and Law Day and further resolve not to give any farewell function to retiring judges till December 2...," the lawyers' body today said in a circular.

The circular was issued to the SCBA members asking them to participate in the General Body Meeting of the bar tomorrow.
The executive committee of SCBA, in a meeting, has decided to place the resolutions before the General Body Meeting on tomorrow.
