Press Trust of India Jamshedpur
Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) today requested Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, for two new express highways for rapid development of the mineral-rich Kolhan region of Jharkhand.

In a letter to the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping SCCI General Secretary Prabhakar Singh said, one of the highways will run between Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and Rourkela in Odisha via Manoharpur and Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district.

The other one can be between Ranchi and Rourkela via Nuagaon, Bano and Hatia, he said.

If Jamshedpur, the industrial capital of Jharkhand, is connected by an express highway with the steel city of Rourkela via Manoharpur and Chakradharpur, it will boost the growth of Trade, Industry and Commerce in both Jharkhand and Odisha, Singh said.

Jamshedpur and Ranchi are the mining and industrial corridors of Jharkhand, the SCCI General Secretary said.

Singh said, the SCCI takes keen interest in development of social fabrics through various activities involving the growth of Jamshedpur as well as mineral-rich Kolhan division comprising East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts of the state.

"We are confident that implementation of the above suggestions would help in economic and industrial growth of Jharkhand which would benefit the nation as well," Singh added.
