Students of the Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan School at Ahmedpur in Latur district today donated Rs 51,000 from their pocket money for the cause of drought-hit people in Maharashtra.
School founder Nivrutti Yadav handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in the Vidhan Bhawan, for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, an official said.
Recently, Kanishka Dongre, a class two student of Carmel School in Badlapur town of Thane district, specially went to meet Chavan to donate Rs 5,000 from his pocket money, towards drought relief.

Chavan has praised the students' efforts.
At least 15 districts of Maharashtra are presently reeling under what is described as the worst drought in the past 40 years, hitting 11,801 villages.
