School children fine after complaining about Mid Day Meal

All the 87 school children, who were taken ill after taking Mid Day Meal at a primary school in Akbarpur Pitaujhinyan village of the district, were found fit after their health examination at sadar hospital.

District Education Officer (DEO) Brajesh Kumar Ojha said that some bad elements of the village allegedly spread the rumour that lizard was found in school's Mid Day Meal following which school children, who had taken the meal yesterday, had huge psychological impact on them and started complaining about nausea and vomiting.

All the children, who complained of sickness, were immediately rushed to Samastipur sadar hospital yesterday where doctors found them fit after examining them, DEO said adding that school children were released from the hospital in the evening itself.
 

Education department's team conducted a thorough probe into the matter today, he said adding that neither any lizard nor any poisonous substance was found in the Mid Day Meal.

All the children of primary school, located at Akbarpur Pitaujhinyan village under Warisnagar police station of the district, had also had a Mid Day Meal even today, the DEO said.

Incharge of Mid Day Meal of all the schools in the district have been asked to ensure that food must be prepared properly with utmost care before serving to the children, he added.
