A case of misappropriation of mid-day meal scheme has come to light in the city where a school headmistress allegedly buried 400 kgs rice meant for the scheme for monetary gain.
On getting information that a section of the school management buried rice for alleged monetary gains, police yesterday dug up the spot at the government-aided Bhola High School in Motibagh area here and seized ten buried sacks of 400 kgs rice worth Rs 12,000, meant for mid-day meal.
Following this, a case was registered last night against the school's headmistress, Kumudi Nandeshwar (56), for criminal breach of trust.

The school authorities claimed that the rice was not fit for eating.
However, Food and Civil Supplies officials, who visited the school, found nothing wrong with the stuff.
Offences under IPC sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 426 (mischief) 427 and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) have been registered against the headmistress and school management, police said, adding further investigation was on.
