Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today ordered suspension of the principal of a state- run school in West Delhi's Vikaspuri area following complaint from parents about him remaining absent from his duty.

Sisodia, who is also Delhi Education Minister, ordered action against the estate manager and the clerk of the school after an inspection team found that the principal and the estate manager absent while their attendance for the day was marked in the records.

"Sisodia received a call this morning from parents, complaining about principal and estate manager being absent from schools where as their attendance was marked in the records," a Delhi government official said.

"An inspection team was sent to the school and both the principal and the estate manager were found to be absent. When the team tried to contact them telephonically they could not be reached," the official added.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has been asked to take strict action against the estate manager and clerk.

"The principal has been suspended and directions issued to DoE to take strict action against the estate manager and clerk," the official said.
