The walk also sought to highlight efforts to create an environment conducive to world peace.
World Humanitarian day is observed on August 19 each year since 2009.
City's premier Ashok Hall group of schools organized the walk which was flagged off by noted industrialist B K Birla and his wife Sarala. Students walked a 2 km stretch from Golpark to Rashbehari Avenue via Gariahat in the morning.
Some of the placards the students carried read - 'Peace will be known only when the power of love overcomes the love of power', 'Empowering girl child is the best way to empower nation'.
