A private school teacher was booked here today for allegedly trying to rape a minor, who is a sixth class student at Amli Pathar village, some 15 km from here, police said.
The minor (13) and her parents turned up at the police station today and lodged a complaint against her teacher Jam Singh Bhabhor, alleging that he had tried to rape her and passed obscene remarks between November 14 and January 15 continuously, Kalyanpur police station inspector Lokendra Singh Thakur said.
An FIR has been registered against Bhabhor under relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) and Indian Penal Code after the girl complained.
The police has launched a manhunt to nab the school teacher.
