Schoolboys ride to Hyderabad on scooter with Rs 1.6 lakh

The traffic police were in for a surprise when they stopped two 14-year-old boys who were spotted riding a scooter without registration number.

For, the boys, class VIII students, had ridden here all the way from Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh, 430 km away, and were carrying Rs 1.25 lakh with them.

"They were stopped in L B Nagar when a traffic police team noticed that the scooter had no number plate. On checking, Rs 1.25 lakh in cash were found in their bag," said a police official.

The boys told the police that they had left Rajamahendravaram at around 1 am, and one of them had taken Rs 1.6 lakh from a cupboard in his house.
 

After reaching Hyderabad, they bought two mobile phones costing Rs 15,000 each, the official said.

"We informed their family members. They will be handed over to their relatives," he said.
