School and colleges in the Darjeeling hills reopened today after one and a half months of closure when normal life was paralysed by the GJM's movement for a separate state of Gorkhaland.

The authorities of two schools, St. Robertson school and Darjeeling Government School, made a written request to the district administration and the police to remove CRPF personnel camping in their premises.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Sudip Sarkar said that the matter was under consideration and the CRPF personnel would shift as soon as a suitable place was found in Darjeeling town.

Meanwhile, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's women's wing, Nari Morcha demonstrated with party flags at the Mall in the town demanding Gorkhaland.

President of Nari Morcha, Asha Gurung who is the wife of GJM supremo Bimal Gurung, took part in the demonstration.
