Schoolteacher on poll duty collapses, dies in Thane

A 39-year-old female schoolteacher who was on poll duty collapsed and died of a heart attack here today, election officials said.

Vaishali Bhale, who taught at the New Bombay City School, was on duty at a polling booth in Vandana area. Around noon she felt uneasy and collapsed after suffering a heart attack, they said, adding Bhale died on the spot.

Bhale, who was unmarried, had not been keeping well for the last two days. However, she decided to go on election duty, her father said.
