Swashbuckling Austrian-American actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in a USD 200 million Chinese 3D film on the country's ancient culture.

Schwarzenegger, 69, has also become an ambassador of the prehistoric Sanxingdui ruins that will feature in the film "The Guest of Sanxingdui", state-run Xinhua news agency reported today.

The film will be a 3D production featuring Hollywood technology and oriental culture.

With an initial investment of USD 200 million, shooting for the film will start in March, 2017 and will be released in 2019, the report said, citing film investment company Beijing Ajimo.

Schwarzenegger, producer and lead actor of the film, said the film would be made as an international story in order to introduce a global audience to the culture of Sanxingdui.

Located in Guanghan City in southwest China's Sichuan Province, the Sanxingdui Ruins are believed to be remnants of the Shu Kingdom that suddenly disappeared 3,000 years ago.
