: Science, education,research and innovations are pillars on which development and work culture of a nation rests and it's progress will be determined by the kind of knowledge that drives the economy,a senior official of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology said
"Research plays a crucial role in extending the knowledge frontier of society, besides giving rise to new thinking. Our progress in the future will be determined by the kind of technology that will drive our economy. Innovation and technology provided the competitive edge that the industrial sector so desperately required," Director of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IISST) Dr S K Dasgupta said.
He said there is a need to ensure an environment conducive to innovations and added that in the present context of unrest-- political, communal, all should rededicate themselves to building a strong emotional connectivity through sincere efforts, against severe odds, to promoteheart-union among India's diverse communities
He said good education inculcates the habit of tolerance and divergent views and options which make one spiritually calm. "Good education inspires everyone to use learning to indulge in healthy debate rather than enter into conflict with those disagreeing with us."
He pointed out that the oldest scriptures have laid down the framework of society based on pillars of knowledge and added that the challenge was to convert knowledge into a democratic force by taking it to every corner of the country. He was speaking after handing over degree certificates to outgoing graduatesand delivering address at the graduation day in Pondicherry Engineering College.
