Scientist honoured with Commissioned professorship in Japan

University of Tokyo, has honoured a scientist of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University with 'Commissioned Professorship,' at the Asian Natural Environmental Science Centre, Japan.

The honour to Dr Chandrababu, Director, In-Charge, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Bio-technology, was in recognition tor his research contributions in the field of rice drought resistance improvement.

Chandrababu, instrumental in signing an MOU between the two universities in the area of higher education and research, will facilitate scientific support to the young scientists in Tokyo in the field of resources and environmental science, a TNAU release said today.

He was conducting drought resistance research in rice for the last 15 years in collaboration with many scientists in International institutions, including Dr Aki Kamoshita of University of Tokyo.
 

Chandrababu is a Fulbright Fellow, working on translational genomics for drought resistance in crops in Cornell University, USA, it said.
