Scientists, researchers and students will take out a rally in the city on August 9 as part of the 'India March For Science' demanding more funds for scientific research.
The march will be organised to press for demands, including at least 3 per cent of GDP to scientific and technological research and 10 per cent towards education, a statement signed by Nilesh Maity, Convenor of the organising committee, said today.
On August 9, research scholars, scientists, teachers and students will converge at the Calcutta University's Science College campus and march towards Esplanade area in the city.

The signatories included several academicians and researchers associated with leading educational institutions of the city.
Similar marches will be taken out in many other state capitals, the society said.
