Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia today urged Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to provide immediate financial help to the rain and hailstorm-affected farmers in the state.

In a letter to Chouhan, Scindia sought some amount of relief to the affected farmers before survey of the damaged crops and requested the Chief Minister to ensure that it (survey) is completed within 15 days.

The survey should carry the signatures of sarpanch/panch and 10 farmers and its copy should be made available to the concerned village panchayat as well as on state government's website, the MP from Guna Lok Sabha seat said in his letter.

He also demanded to suspend recovery of electricity bills and loan instalments from the affected farmers with immediate effect.

The recent unseasonal rains coupled with hailstorm caused extensive damage to crops in major areas of the state.
