Scribes protest against KCR

Journalists also flayed blacking out of two private channels in Telangana

Press Trust of India Chennai
Various media associations today staged a demonstration here protesting Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekara Rao's recent remarks against journalists.

The agitation, held near Chennai Press Club, was organised under the banner of Journalists Associations of Chennai and included representatives from various Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam media organisations.

Chennai Press Club Joint Secretary Bharathi Thamizhan condemned Rao's remarks against the media, saying freedom of the press should not be affected.

Journalists also flayed blacking out of two private channels in Telangana.

The Telangana Chief Minister had stirred a controversy recently when he threatened to "bury" the media "ten feet under the earth" if they continue to "insult" the newly-carved out state, drawing strong reactions from media associations and political parties like BJP and Congress.
