Journalists here took out a protest march condemning alleged "misbehaviour" by one of the staff members of Congress leader Sashi Tharoor with some of their colleagues today.

Around 50 journalists affiliated to Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) and local Press Club took out the march to Tharoor's office tonight.

KUWJ district secretary Suresh Vellimangalam said that earlier today when TV journalists put some questions to Tharoor on the latest developments in the case related to the mysterious death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar, the Congress MP lost his cool and said journalists were "liars".

When the scribes persisted with the question, one of his staff pushed them, he alleged.

Condemning the incident, Vellimangalam said asking questions was the fundamental right of journalists and attacking them infringed on their rights.

Tharoor had yesterday also attacked the media accusing it of being "self-appointed liars and scum".

"I'll speak to the police, not to self-appointed liars and scum," he had told mediapersons when asked why his aides were not speaking the truth in the Pushkar case.
