Out of the total number of households, 33,11,405 (13.9 percent) households are of Scheduled Castes and 24,45,645 (10.3 percent) households are of Scheduled Tribes.
Among all the Scheduled Castes households, 53.7 per cent are in rural and 46.3 per cent are in urban. In case of Scheduled Tribes, 76.5 per cent of households are in rural and 23.5 per cent are in urban.
According to the census statistics, as against the 30.2 per cent for all households at state level, 22.8 per cent of Scheduled Castes and 12.2 per cent of Scheduled Tribes households live in houses with concrete roof.
In case of Scheduled Caste households, tap water is the major source of drinking water (68.0 percent) followed by well (11.8 per cent), hand pump (12.8 per cent) and tube well (5.2 per cent) as the other sources of drinking water.
About 52.8 percent SC households have the drinking water facility within their premises, whereas 31.9 per cent households have this facility near the premises. And in the rest 15.3 percent of SC households, the drinking water facility is away from their premises.
In case of Scheduled Tribes households also, tap water is the major source of the drinking water (48.4 per cent) followed by well (24.7 per cent), tube well (3.9 per cent) and hand pump (19.2 per cent) as the other sources.
Among the STs, 33.9 per cent of households have the drinking water facility within their premises, 43.3 per cent have this facility near the premises and in the rest 22.8 per cent of households, this facility is away from the premises. (More)
