Local Trinamool Congress leaders scuffled with some Election Commission officials today when they were removing flags and festoons of the ruling party from a private premises at Kaliachak in Malda district, police said.

The police said the local leaders scuffled with the EC officials after they removed the festoons and party flags at Jadupur village in the district.

The members of the election monitoring cell had gone to remove the flags and festoons after getting complaints from the house-owner that they were put up without his permission, the police said.

A large contingent of police reached the spot.

District election office sources said video footage of the incident would be examined before filing of any official complaint.

On April 10, two Election Commission personnel were beaten up when they were videographing a motor-bike rally of Trinamool at Manikchak in Malda district.
