A sculpture garden, the first of its kind in the city, where sculptures and artifacts would be displayed would be set at the Eco Park at Rajarhat New Town near here, WBHIDCO sources said here today.

Different types of sculptures and artifacts depicting the art and culture of various countries would be displayed at the outdoor sculpture garden in the Eco Park, a 480 acre urban park developed by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO).

The plan to set up the sculpture garden has been approved at the recent board meeting of the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Designed by noted painter and chairman of the West Bengal Heritage Commission, Suvaprasanna, the sculpture park would be set up near the Bamboo Garden at the Eco Park.

WBHIDCO authorities are also setting up the city's first wax museum in New Town, modelled on Madame Tussauds wax museum in London.

West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had recently laid the foundation stone for the wax museum that will be set up on the sixth floor of Finance Centre opposite the Eco Park.
