SDM's body found two days after his vehicle was swept away

The body of a 59-year-old Sub- Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rameshwar Meena was today located around 12 km from the spot from where his vehicle was swept away on Friday while crossing a bridge over a swollen Anaas river, officials said.

The body was fished out by rescue teams near Lilwani Dam and was taken for post-mortem, they said.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased alleged that there was foulplay, charges, which senior officials said, they would get inquired.

"We will get their issues inquired," SP, Banswara, Kaluram Rawat said.

More than 50 persons including divers were part of rescue teams that tried for over two days to locate the officer's body.
 

Meena was going to Kushalgarh from Banswara in a jeep along with his driver on Friday when due to the increased flow his vehicle was swept away by the gushing river, officials said.

The driver was rescued but Meena did not survive, they said. Meena was due to retire in a few months, they added.
