SDMC attaches rent of realty major

Taking strong action against non- payment of property tax, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) today took action against a realty major by attaching the rent to be paid to the company by the occupants of a building owned by it.
According to a statement by SDMC, Ansal Properties and Infrastructure Ltd was asked to pay pending property tax of Rs 92.59 lakh but it did not do so.
"SDMC's Property Tax Department took stringent action against M/s Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Ltd and attached their rent for recovery of property tax. M/s Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Ltd had to pay Rs 92,59,736 as pending property tax," it said.
 
"We have sent the notice as per the provision of DMC Act but M/s Ansal Properties and Infrastructure Ltd has failed to deposit the property tax. As a result, attachment of rent for recovery of property tax amounting to Rs 92,59,736 (excluding penalty) has been done," the statement quoted Assessor and Collector B N Singh saying.
Rental of the six occupants -- Spa Time, Seoul Restaurant, Harrys Karaoke Lounge Bar, ADK Real Estate Pvt Ltd, The Wali Disney Company (India) Pvt Ltd and D S Mittle and Sons -- were attached, the statement added.
