South Delhi Municipal Corporation today carried out a demolition drive in its central and Najafgarh zones and removed illegally built portions of constructions and also sealed few other parts of properties.

"As part of regular demolition drive, we removed illegally built portions and also sealed parts of properties in our different zones yesterday," SDMC Public Relations Officer Mukesh Yadav said.

The drive was carried out in Central Zones's Vishwakarma Colony, Nizamuddin Basti, among other places and in Najafgarh Zone, it took place in Matiyala, Dharampura and Raj Nagar -II areas, and involved altogether nine properties, he said.

"Drive was going on during election period in the city too but due to logistical constraints of security and police forces deployed on poll duty, work was quite low in magnitude. But, after elections here, we have resumed it full swing," Yadav said.

SDMC on Monday also carried out drive against unauthorised constructions in Kalkaji's DDA flats, Pul Prahladpur and Kotla Mubarakpur areas, he said.
