SDMC claims record property tax collection

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation today claimed to have collected an all-time high property tax of Rs 310 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year.

"In the previous financial year (2012-13), the reported revenue collection for the corresponding period was Rs 143.52 crore," said a statement from the Corporation.

"This means the growth of revenue during the first quarter of the present financial year in absolute term is Rs 167 crores," it added.

"In the present financial year (2013-14), SDMC has been able to surpass the total revenue of all the three Corporations together collected in the first quarter of financial year 2012-13," said Assessor and Collector B N Singh.
 

He added the annual target of Property Tax Department of SDMC for financial year 2013-14 is Rs 702 crore.
