Getting licenses for traders in south Delhi is likely to become easier as the BJP-led South Delhi Municipal Corporation is working on simplifying the application procedure and to issue the same within the next 15 days, senior civic officials today said.

"The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has been asked to issue the trade licenses to business communities without any delay and the deadline of the job is prescribed for 15 days in which the seekers of such licenses would have to submit the affidavit as asked by municipal officials," Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhyay today said.

He was speaking at a round-table discussion hosted by the PHD Chamber Of Commerce here on "Ease of Doing Business in Delhi", which sought to identify problems faced by the business community and industrialists in the national capital and discussed solutions thereof.

Upadhyay had recently stepped down as the chairman of the standing committee of the SDMC to focus on party responsibilities.

East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) have already simplified the procedure. Mayors of both South and East Delhi attended the event.

"We want to be friends of the traders and our efforts would be to simplify the procedure and make the licenses available to them as soon as possible. And, we would try to do it next 15 days," South Delhi Mayor Khushi Ram said.

East Delhi Mayor Meenakshi said, the EDMC has completely simplified the application procedure and now applicants have to just "submit an affidavit and an identity card".

"We have also been conducting regular camps for them (traders) to ease out their problems," she said.
