cucumber, an endangered marine species, was today recovered from two boats fishing in mid-sea, official sources said.
The boats were seized and 10 of its occupants taken into custody by Naval personnel on patrolling duty and handed over to police, the sources said.
Though trade in sea cucumber is banned, it is smuggled in large numbers to Indonesia, Japan and Sri Lanka where people believe it has medicinal properties.
