With classes for the new academic session already started, Delhi University issued a ninth cut off list late tonight to fill up a number of seats still lying vacant along with a notification to all colleges to complete their admission process by July 31.

Eight colleges issued the ninth cut off list for admission in Commerce course, while some others have asked students to directly contact them.

Indraprastha College reopened for admissions in the course with cut off at 94.75 per cent.

High first cut off list and marginal dips in subsequent lists have also led to admissions still being open in six colleges for the much-sought Economics course.

Apart from seats in general category, a sizeable number of seats reserved for SC/ST and OBC categories are also still lying vacant in various courses in different colleges.

Meanwhile, in a notification, DU Registrar Alka Sharma has asked colleges to fill up their seats in all categories and courses by July 31, beyond which admission will not be allowed.

"Colleges shall ensure that all seats for SC/ST and OBCs are duly filled by the candidates of the respective categories by lowering down the cut off for admission to the minimum prescribed level," Sharma was quoted as saying in the notification.

The admission and payment of fees based on the ninth cut off list will take place on July 27 and 29.

A tenth cut off list will be issued before admissions close at the end of this month.

Classes for the new academic session began from July 24.
