Two on-duty traffic police constables were allegedly thrashed by an autorickshaw driver along with a group of 10-12 men in northeast Delhi's Seelampur area, making it the second such incident in a week.

According to the police, constables Vinod and Sitaram were managing traffic at Maujpur Chowk around 7 PM yesterday when an altercation broke out between them and the autorickshaw driver Asif after they told him to move his vehicle forward in order to ease the traffic jam.

Asif then called up 10-12 people, who reached the spot and thrashed the cops, police said.

The constables were later admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital.

Asif was arrested today and three more persons were detained, police said, adding a case has been registered against them.

On Monday, two Delhi traffic policemen had been thrashed by a group of men after they stopped and issued a challan to a minor boy who was riding a bike at Yamuna Vihar traffic intersection in Gokulpuri area of northeast Delhi.
