Second installment of Rs 122.84-crore government aid received

The second installment of government aid amounting to Rs 122.84 crore has been received by the district administration and the same is scheduled to be distributed to drought-hit farmers across the district by March 7 this year.

A sum of Rs 61,15,60,120 has also been sanctioned by insurance companies against crop insurance premium paid by more than 1,48,524 farmers for their crops on 1,69,989 hectares in 16 tehsils of Yavatmal district and the same would also be directly credited to bank accounts of premium holders before the March 7 deadline.

According to the District Agriculture Superintending Officer D I Gaikwad, a sum of Rs 61,15,60,120 has been sanctioned by insurance companies which would be credited to bank accounts of farmers with crop insurance policies.
 

Sources said that the Maharashtra state government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 245 crore for farmers hard hit by the ongoing drought followed by crop failure for which the first installment was already received and most beneficiaries were given their share.

Now that the second installment of Rs 122.84 crore has been received, it would be distributed to beneficiaries by March 7. The amount has been sent to tehsildars of 16 tehsils across the district who have been ordered to distribute the amount by March 7, sources said.
