Second rainless day for capital, mercury above normal level

Both maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded above the normal levels. Humidity, which was recorded between 36 and 74 per cent, added to the woes of the people.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.3 deg C, which is six degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 29.2 deg C, which is three degrees above normal.

Maximum temperature in July had risen to 41 deg C on several occasions in 2009 and 2004. The highest of 45 deg C was recorded on July 1, 1931.

Rains have been eluding the capital for the past two days. The MeT department has forecast similar weather conditions for tomorrow as well.

 

The forecast says the maximum and minimum temperature would be 41 and 30 deg C.

Monsoon hit the capital on July 6, after missing the normal onset date of June 29. Last year, monsoon had reached the city on June 26.
