A second Rimming Machine has been put into service at the blanking line of Salem Steel Plant to double coin blanks production from 300 to 600 tonnes a month for supply to the India Government Mint.

The machine has been supplied by Schuler Pressen GmbH, Germany.

Director (Technical) S S Mohanty, who inaugurated the machine yesterday, earlier visited the site to review the status of erection and installation of the new Sendzimir Mill, which is expected to be commissioned by January 2016.

This mill would double the present cold rolled stainless steel capacity from 65,000 tonnes to 1,46,000 tonnes per annum and enable Salem Steel Plant to enhance its market share in cold rolled stainless steel products, a press release said.

Later, Mohanty held a review meeting with senior plant officers on the status and developments in the plant.
