Secretariat employees today went on an indefinite strike in protest against the state government's decision of increasing the number of working days in a week from five to six and making biometric registration of attendance mandatory.
Around 1200 secretariat employees began their indefinite strike today demanding withdrawal of the decisions and threatened to continue the stir till their demands are conceded.
Questioning the justification of increasing the number of working days from five to six, President of the Secretariat Employees' Association Narendra Prasad Raturi said it was unnecessary as the provision of five working days in a week was made during the tenure of former Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari.
