Section 144 CrPC in Chakradharpur after group clash

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC was in force in Chakradharpur township of West Singhbhum district following last night's group clash, district officials said today.

All schools and colleges, market and business establishments, however, functioned normally, the officials said adding five persons were detained in connection with the incident.

The situation is well under control and returning to normal on Monday, Sub-Divisional Officer (Porahat), Nandkishore Gupta said,

He added a meeting of peace committee having representation from all communities have been convened with the West Singhbhum district administration, where Deputy Commissioner Aboobacker Siddique will also take part.

Five persons have been detained in connection with the clashes, that left half a dozen people injured and shops gutted, the official said.
 

The clash erupted from brick-batting near Ward No. 10 of the town when a group of picnickers were returning last evening.
